Panglao is a relatively flat island, without any big mountains. From Tagbilaran to Alona Beach, taxies or jeepneys have to drive about 20 km, mostly on concrete roads.

Other attractions on Panglao Island beside Alona Beach are the many dive sites around the island and the Hinagdanan Cave which is worth a visit.

In November 2018, the New Bohol International Airport was officially opened on Panglao Island, not far from Alona Beach.
